AADJA

Biographie

AADJA comes from a working-class family in Newfoundland, a small island off the east coast of Canada. She showed exceptional musical talent at the age of three, but despite her natural gift for singing, she was not accepted into music school.

During her school years, she suffered severe bullying. When she was also excluded from ballet lessons, she fell into a deep depression at the age of just 13.
Her life changed when she started dancing in queer nightclubs at the age of 16, where she felt a sense of belonging for the first time.

As an adult, AADJA was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. By this point, she had already made a name for herself in the electronic music industry. Shortly after her diagnosis, however, everything fell apart. In addition to fierce criticism due to her label affiliation at the time and a disastrous breakup turned her life completely upside down.

AADJA felt deeply misunderstood, frightened, and hopeless in the world, and left everything behind to move to Berlin. With just a few suitcases and a shadow diary, she set out to reinvent herself and her music. AADJA bought a microphone, locked herself in her room, and composed “NEOFORMA” on a broken laptop. Although the odds were stacked against her time and again, two years later AADJA is making a bold statement with her music. Through her tireless drive and undeniably powerful voice, the electronic producer and singer is already proving that she is a force that defies gravity.
