For the 54th episode of the BPitch Podcast, we are excited to welcome Kessie!
Kessie, a Leeds-based DJ known for her techno-infused soundscapes that are as textured and dynamic as they are heavy. Ironically, Kessie’s hearing disability is the driving force behind her machinist approach to DJing. Her “wall of sound” aesthetic results in immersive sets that invite you to feel the music just as much as you hear it.
“I wanted to lean more into my instincts for this mix and channel some of the anxieties I’ve been dealing with in my everyday attempts to juggle this scramble we call life. It’s also been a while since I’ve focused on a podcast and I’ve grown more confident in my style: colourful and sinister with a seductive twang. I focused on contrast, depth, and flow. It’s tempting to approach a podcast like you’re at a club, but that’s already quite challenging when you’re in a studio alone, with no energy to feed off except your own. So I gave myself permission to wander a bit and see where the mix wanted to go, maintaining a playful attitude while letting some of the darker undertones bleed through.“ Enjoy the mix!!
