Beschreibung
Matriarch of the Berlin techno scene, Ellen Allien released her album ‚New Life‘ on BPitch in July 2026, a powerful statement on personal autonomy, community responsibility and the destructive forces threatening our planet’s beauty. Drawing on the same elements that have always defined her sound, Berlin, synths, her voice, and the sea as a lifelong source of inspiration, the album channels themes of empowerment, anarchy and collective action, weaving elements of minimal, darkwave and hypnotic euphoria into a vibrant journey of hope, unmistakably Ellen’s own.
Since release, Ellen has been named Beatport’s Artist of the Month, interviewed by Bandcamp Daily, Mixmag ES, Rockerilla, KEYI, Tsugi, Radio Eins, Flux FM, Berliner Zeitung and The New Yorker, with critical acclaim from Groove, The Wire, DJ Mag, Louder Than War and many more, cementing Ellen’s place at the very forefront of Berlin’s electronic music scene.
For this first instalment of remixes, Ellen has enlisted artists whose worlds align closely with the spirit of the album to reimagine her signature forward-thinking techno. Icelandic producer Bjarki hands in a bumping four-to-the-floor remix of ‚Cruising‘ with atmospheric scattered flourishes. Ghanaian British Mala Junta resident Yazzus remixes ‚Lights Off‘, taking the heads-down track into fast, tripping techno territory typical of her groove-rich sound. Ellen Allien’s own acappella of ‚Fantazy‘ completes the collection, embracing the darkness in a trippy reworking of her own vocal. UK techno preacher Cleric reduces ‚Bella‘ to driving, razor-edged techno.
